I finally got around to starting my first crochet garment – the Babydoll Dress. I’ve been eyeing this pattern since Crochet Me was first announced and I bought the Interweave Crochet magazine in the spring that had the pattern in it. The pattern is so pretty and I just can’t help but picture wearing it on a crisp autumn afternoon.
Like I said, this is my first crochet thing I’ve made to wear, so I don’t exactly expect it to go without trouble. I still consider myself fairly new to crochet, especially to working off of a pattern. However, last weekend I worked (and reworked) the swatch pieces until they came out right. I love the ribbing section and the texture it gives. I think this is the first time I’ve worked swatches (See? I’m really trying here people!)
I’m trying this pattern with my Sugar ‘n Cream yarn, which is so not recommended in the pattern. I use Sugar ‘n Cream/Peaches ‘n Cream for 90% of my projects, because I love the colors, feel, and cost of the yarn. I think this might make the pattern turn out heavy, but I figure it’s worth a shot, especially for my first shot at a garment.
I’m really looking forward to giving this a shot and hopefully it will turn out decently enough that I can post a picture of myself wearing it!
